How Does IPL Photo Rejuvenation Work?
Clients will begin by putting on protective eyewear. Using a hand piece with a glass or laser surface and cooling gel for your skin, the technician will apply pulses of light to your skin that will feel mildly uncomfortable—comparable to the sensation being snapped by a rubber band. Beneath the skin, high-energy light waves are working to heat and stimulate collagen production to smooth wrinkles, target sun spot removal, and improve the elasticity and color of your face.
Most clients will elect to receive a full treatment of five sessions scheduled three weeks apart. Individuals with darker skin tones and those who tan regularly will not achieve the same results.
Will an IPL treatment remove flat moles?
Because IPL energy is absorbed by the excess melanin that gives the flat mole its dark color, a photofacial is absolutely capable of eliminating flat moles. The energy will break up the melanin, which will temporarily turn it slightly darker but then result in the mole completely shedding within 4-7 days. If you are hoping to remove a raised mole, the San Diego Cosmetic Laser team may be able to recommend a more appropriate method.
