Within 4 to 6 weeks. Each session is 30 minutes.
A laser is far more precise than a razor and can easily remove hairs that are hard to reach.
Laser treatments can be quite fast depending on the size of the area being treated. For example, an upper lip session can be done in just a few minutes, while larger areas of the body can take up to an hour.
Another added benefit of laser treatments is that they greatly reduce the amount of hair that grows back, in some cases up to 70 percent. This commonly occurs after three to seven sessions.
Laser hair removal is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures for a reason (or three) – it saves time, money, and the hassle associated with other hair removal methods. Shaving, plucking, waxing, depilatory creams, and threading all get rid of unwanted hair, but the results only last for mere days or weeks at a time.
Laser hair removal is the only solution for permanent hair reduction. And thanks to technological advances, it’s now even easier for people of all skin types to permanently remove unwanted hair.
At the San Diego Cosmetic Laser Clinic, hair removal costs vary depending on the area being treated and if the session itself is a one-time treatment or part of a package.

Lasers safely remove unwanted hair by focusing highly concentrated light energy into the hair follicles. When the correct laser is used and adjusted to the person’s skin type, the laser is able to target the pigment within the hair follicle. As the laser light is absorbed, it destroys the hair growth in the center of the follicle without damage to the surrounding skin. Once the follicle is damaged, it will never grow hair again.
Laser hair removal only works when the hair is in the active growth phase. Hair grows in three phases: active, resting, and transition. And because each individual hair grows at its own rate, not every hair follicle is in the same phase at the same time. So most people require several treatments to achieve the silky smooth skin they desire.
Once a hair follicle is destroyed, it will no longer grow hair. But there is no guarantee that the laser will destroy every single hair follicle. In some cases, hair regrowth is possible. Some clients like to return once or twice a year for touchup treatments to keep their skin smooth and silky.

Although there is some discomfort associated with laser hair removal, it is minimal. Some patients compare the sensation to that of a rubber band flicking against the skin. At San Diego Cosmetic Laser Clinic, we’re committed to patient comfort. In addition to the topical numbing cream we offer prior to the procedure, our laser handpiece also releases a cool stream of air that helps to keep your skin comfortable during treatment. Any stinging sensation you do experience will subside once the session has ended. Some patients take ibuprofen a couple of hours before their appointment to further minimize discomfort.
At your consultation, we’ll provide you with a list of instructions to prepare for your laser hair removal procedure. But in general, you’ll want to avoid tanning for several days. Avoid waxing or plucking in the weeks leading up to the appointment as well On the day of your procedure, avoid using any products, including lotion and antiperspirant.
Once you’ve completed your laser hair removal treatment, you’re free to go about your business as usual. You may have some redness or swelling, but it should subside within a few hours. If your treatment area is exposed to the sun, it’s important to use sunblock with an SPF of 30 or higher for several days following the laser hair removal procedure.
